Jose A. (Tony) Bardelas, Jr., M.D. FAAAAI
Founder

Dr. Bardelas is the founder of the Allergy and Asthma Center of North Carolina. He graduated from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1973,and completed Pediatric Residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. His Fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Asthma, Allergy and Immunology was completed at the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine in Denver, Colorado. He started his practice of Adult and Child Asthma and Allergy in July 1977. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He has been an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill since 1996. He has been selected by his peers as one of the best Doctors in America’s Southeast region. Dr. Bardelas is fluent in Spanish.

Eric Jon Kozlow, M.D.

Dr. Kozlow graduated from Emory University School of Medicine in 1985. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Residency at the Medical College of Virginia. His fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology was completed at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.He was a United States Air Force physician at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas from 1992-1995. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill. He joined the Allergy and Asthma Center in 1995.

Shaylar Padgett, M.D.

Dr. Shaylar Padgett is originally from South Carolina and completed her undergraduate degree from Duke University. She graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2012 and went on to complete her pediatric residency from Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in 2015. She then moved to Pittsburgh, PA to complete her Allergy and Immunology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2017. She is very happy to be joining the Allergy and Asthma Center of NC this summer and returning home to the south.

R. Carter Bobbit, M.D.

Dr. Carter Bobbitt completed his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University. He returned to his hometown and graduated from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1999. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Exempla St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. His fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology was completed at the University of Cincinnati. He has enjoyed travelling with medical teams to provide care in Central America, South America, and Africa. He, his wife and 3 children moved to Greensboro to be closer to family and he joined the Allergy and Asthma Center in 2015.

Joel Gallagher, M.D.

Dr. Joel Gallagher was born and raised in Louisiana and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas. Following completion of his undergraduate degree, he spent a year doing volunteer work with at-risk infants in St. Louis before starting medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he and his wife fell in love with the Carolinas. After completing his residency in Pediatrics at Levine Children's Hospital, he moved to the suburbs of the North Pole (i.e. Milwaukee) to complete his Allergy and Immunology fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. He and his family are excited to thaw out and join the team at the Allergy and Asthma Center of North Carolina this summer.

Yoon Kim, D.O.

Dr. Kim began her studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her undergraduate degree in Heath Policy and Administration. Upon completion of her bachelor’s degree, she began her medical training at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. Dr. Kim finished her Internal Medicine Residency at UPMC Pinnacle Hospital located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dr. Kim’s passion for Allergy and Immunology spurred her to pursue and complete a Fellowship program at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. Returning to Pennsylvania Dr. Kim provided treatment to children and adults, lectures to physicians and education to the broader community over the course of 3 years. Dr. Kim is excited to return to the Tarheel state and bring her experience to care for the patients of our Triad area and beyond.
